The Rohtang Pass 100km Ultra Challenge: Conquer Your Endurance!
Prepare for the ultimate test of grit and spirit at the Rohtang Pass 100km Ultra Challenge, the crown jewel of the Manali Marathon 3.0!
This thrilling and undeniably challenging race, embarking and culminating at the vibrant Manali Mall Road (elevation approx. 1950m), offers a unique blend of breathtaking Himalayan grandeur and an unparalleled endurance trial.
This isn't just a race; it's a mesmerizing journey deep into the heart of the Himalayas, where you'll battle not only against fellow competitors but also against the raw, untamed landscape and the formidable altitude. The course will take you from the lively Manali Mall Road to the monumental ascent to Rohtang Pass (elevation approx. 3980m), before making the return journey to Manali.
The route is predominantly 95% tarmac, ensuring a relatively consistent running surface, with some strategic gravel sections adding to the true trail experience. You'll navigate a challenging out-and-back course, featuring a substantial cumulative elevation gain of approximately 2030m (from Manali to Rohtang Pass) and an equally demanding cumulative elevation loss of approximately 2030m on your return. This continuous ascent and descent demand extreme physical and mental resilience.
Why the Rohtang Pass Ultra Challenge is Your Ideal 100km Debut:
Despite its inherent difficulty, the Rohtang Pass Ultra Challenge stands out as one of India's best races to undertake your first 100km ultra-marathon, thanks to its exceptional support system.
The race kicks off at midnight (00:00hrs) on October 26th, offering a unique experience of running under the star-lit Himalayan sky. What truly sets this race apart is our commitment to your success: we provide a dedicated support vehicle (car or van) to follow each runner!
Imagine this: as you push through the darkness, tackling the challenging inclines, you'll know your dedicated vehicle is right behind you. This isn't just about peace of mind; it's about unparalleled logistical support that allows you to focus purely on your run:
- Always Hydrated & Fueled: Your vehicle will carry all your hydration and aid needs, ensuring you have immediate access to your preferred drinks and nutrition without relying solely on fixed aid stations.
- Gear on Demand: Need an extra layer as the temperature drops near the pass? Want to switch shoes for different sections? Your dedicated support vehicle means your spare clothing, shoes, and other essential gear are always within reach. No more cumbersome drop bags or waiting at distant checkpoints.
- Personalized Care in the Dark: Running in the pre-dawn hours at altitude can be daunting. Having your support vehicle provides a constant source of light, encouragement, and a familiar face, making those solitary miles feel less alone.
- Safety First: In the unpredictable Himalayan environment, with rapidly changing weather and altitude effects, having a dedicated vehicle and team closely monitoring your progress is an invaluable safety net.
The Ultimate Endurance Test:
The weather in the Himalayas is notoriously unpredictable. While the valley floor can experience hot conditions during the day, the higher reaches near Rohtang Pass will likely be freezing, with the distinct possibility of snow and other precipitation. This dramatic shift in temperature and conditions, coupled with the significant altitude, presents the ultimate test of your endurance. As the sun rises, the breathtaking vistas will motivate you, but the intense mountain sun at altitude can also pose a risk. Our dedicated team of medical and first responders will be strategically placed along the route to ensure your safety and address any concerns promptly.
AGE LIMIT: Participant must be 18 years or older as on race day.
